How Hormex can help your grass during a heatwave or drought
Summer heatwaves and droughts are spreading across the USA, causing some cities to restrict water usage. When there’s a limit on water use, lawn maintenance is one of the first things that is scrapped. But there are ways to cut back on the amount of water your lawn needs to be healthy, and it all starts with the root. So even if you aren’t experiencing a drought and you’re just looking to cut back on your monthly water bill, Hormex Vitamin B1 & Rooting Hormone Concentrate allows the roots of your grass to grow deeper and stronger.
Deep and strong roots cut down on the amount of watering a lawn needs to stay healthy. You can use rooting hormone at any time of the year, but the best time to first apply Hormex Rooting Hormone Concentrate & Vitamin B1 is during April or early May. You should be confident you will not receive additional snow when you apply the rooting hormone. Also, remember that soil is cooler than the ambient temperature. A string of 50° F days might seem like a welcome reprieve from winter for Northern and Midwestern landowners, but the temperature of the soil might not be warm enough to fully melt the layer of permafrost. Waiting until a 60° F day appears is good practice.
To maximize the effectiveness of your first application, we recommend using Hormex Rooting Hormone Concentrate & Vitamin B1 in combination with other techniques that promote deep root growth in grass. Heavily watering your grass (the soil should be moist 4-6 inches beneath the thatch layer) and raking your lawn to remove excess thatch (more than ½ inch thick) can cause roots to grow exponentially thicker when used alongside a rooting hormone. For future applications, we recommend applying the rooting hormone monthly and after the grass has been recently cut.
If you’re putting in turf or planting new grass, Hormex Vitamin B1 & Rooting Hormone Concentrate is a must have. It not only builds stronger roots for existing lawns, but it also reduces initial rooting stress and establishes roots faster. To apply Hormex Liquid Concentrate to your lawn, use 1 liquid oz. per 100 square feet of lawn. The hormone concentrate is applied to the lawn via a hose nozzle.
