Cuttings & water propagation
Dip softwood cuttings at full strength, or add 10 drops to a jar of water when you root pothos, tradescantia and other easy cuttings in water.
Transplants & bare-root plants
Drench new plantings to help prevent transplant shock, and presoak bare-root roses, trees and shrubs before they go in the ground.
Houseplants & hydroponics
Add it to your watering can or reservoir at 1 tsp per gallon to support roots in established plants.
How much Hormex Concentrate to use

When to reach for Hormex Rooting Powder
The liquid is ideal for softwood cuttings, water propagation and transplants. Woody and harder-to-root cuttings usually do better with Hormex Rooting Powder in the right strength, from #1 for tender houseplants to #16 for the toughest hardwoods. Not sure which you need? Is Hormex Concentrate a liquid rooting hormone?
Yes. Hormex Vitamin B1 & Hormone Concentrate is a water-soluble liquid that combines vitamin B1 with plant hormones. Use it diluted for watering, transplanting and water propagation, or full strength as a dip for softwood cuttings.
Should I use the liquid or the rooting powder?
Use the liquid for softwood cuttings, water propagation, transplants and routine plant care. For woody or harder-to-root cuttings, use Hormex Rooting Powder in the strength your plant needs. Many growers use both: powder on the cutting, liquid in the water.
Can I use it on consumable plants?
Yes. Hormex works on consumable plants, from food crops to medicinal plants. Always follow the label directions.
Can I use it in hydroponics?
Yes. Start with 1 tsp per US gallon, replace the water weekly, and add ½–1 tsp (2.5–5 mL) per gallon of fresh replacement water at each change.
How much do I use per gallon?
For most uses, 1 tsp per gallon. Bare-root presoaks use 6 tsp (30 mL) per gallon for 15 minutes, and softwood cuttings use a full-strength dip for 3–5 minutes.
